Research and Development

PanaHome is committed to providing high-quality and high-performance
housing by conducting R&D on a continuous basis.

Constantly improving the environmental performance of PanaHome housing

We apply environmental considerations to all our corporate activities. Our product development and manufacturing departments were granted the ISO14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems. PanaHome also received the “Environmentally Symbiotic Housing” certification.

Certificate for environmentally symbiotic housing
We have received a certificate for environmentally symbiotic housing from the Institute for Building Environment and Energy Conservation.

We ensure extensive quality control and eco consciousness in all the processes of housing development

PanaHome centrally manages diverse information to be shared by plants in Japan and the head office (product development and procurement divisions). We have established a custom off-site production system to meet various needs. High precision and high quality are ensured in all the processes, from product design, parts and materials production, logistics, to assembly. Thanks to our serious commitment to the quality control system, PanaHome’s product development and procurement divisions and plants in Japan were certified with ISO9001, an international quality assurance standard that has been revised to reflect the customer-oriented aspect. PanaHome’s group companies in the sales division have also obtained ISO9001 certification.

Ensuring high performance by conducting tests under very severe conditions

Our home testing center makes R&D efforts on an ongoing basis to achieve higher performance. Diverse testing equipment is utilized to conduct rigorous weathering tests, including durability against heavy rain, strong wind, severe cold and heat, to check the quality and durability of PanaHome houses. These demonstration tests offer reliable data that help ensure housing amenity over a long period of time, from one generation to the next..

Applying comprehensive solutions to communities

By capitalizing on improvements in the performance of our homes, together with environmental technologies developed in collaboration with the Panasonic Group, we are spearheading construction of ‘eco ideas’ model towns consisting of homes that integrate energy creation, storage and management, are resistant to both atural and manmade disasters and which boast high asset value.
Our participation in Panasonic’s project to build Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town, which is scheduled to open in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, began with the development of the original concept. The project offers an excellent opportunity for us to maximize our key strengths—one of which is our accumulated know-how in all aspects of environment-friendly housing—to recommend or put forward ideas regarding technologies and performance features for homes.

Research facilities to develop a “zero carbon footprint house”

We are fostering the development of a "zero carbon footprint house" through industry-university cooperative research with the University of Tokyo, Nikken Sekkei Ltd. and KEI KAIHOH Architects as well as through cooperation within the Panasonic Group. At the research facilities located within our head office plant in Shiga Prefecture, we conduct various verification tests as well as housing experiments involving a family of four actually living in the facilities. We are committed to accelerating popularization of "zero carbon footprint houses" through optimal energy management.
